Help with pets please

I'm pretty new to the game and I've been learning as I go. A viewer of my videos said I need to buy a bat pet at level 22, but when I try to buy one I get a message that the total ranks of your pets is too high. I'm not sure what to do any any tips would be most appreciated.

You only need to send off your current pet. You can have only 1 pet right now, look to passive skills, there is a one to use more pets. You cannot upgrade it yet. Every pet have their own rank, you can read it in their stats and every pet shop. If you use one pet it doesn't matter what rank it has. But if you want to have more, check passive skill to see which level give you enough ranks.

You will get bat pet once for free if you continue main quest (the green border - if I translated it correctly).

Thank you for the reply and the help. I was hoping I didn't have to send my dog back to get a bat, but I guess I do. I'll see if I can do the main quest to get a free bat before I buy one. I really appreciate the help!
