On the ship that leaves Taern after waking up on deck the chronicler had a quest sign above his head, but I went below deck, fought the angry crewman and ate some soup. When you hit lvl 2 you are able to upgrade your skills, but then when you close the character winder the tutorial wants you to open it and teach you how to upgrade your skill. Since you already did and can't any further, there is no way to close the tutorial or progress in the game.
